Building Talk Soup 2.0

Ten months ago, I created the TCSCP (Talk Soup) Network to support a field in flux. I saw a need for people who were newly independent, established consultants, and people in career transitions to support each other through disruption, and for businesses looking to engage researchers to easily find the support they were looking for while supporting their affected colleagues. I built that network as an arm of my own consulting firm.

From the beginning, the network has had a life of its own. We continued to grow in number. We took on clients and projects. We strategized. We helped launch an affinity group and conference sessions. We created a Lunch and Learn series. We negotiated group discounts. We took on our first interns. We collaborated on projects and proposals and grew partnerships.

At its best, the TCSCP Network is a place for collaboration, inspiration, support, professional growth, and work opportunities.

Now we’re intentionally building more of that into the way the network operates. We have technology and sustainability improvements underway that will make it easier for members to connect, collaborate, share resources, find opportunities, and use the network as part of their actual work.

But what I’m most excited about isn’t just what we’re changing. It’s how we’re changing it.

We’re building these improvements collaboratively, using the process itself as an opportunity to network, learn, experiment, and grow as business leaders, with the guidance of an experienced career coach who has repeatedly blown my mind with her ability to “speak researcher.”

So if you’ve been looking for a community where you can meet other researchers and consultants, contribute what you know, learn from other people, collaborate, and potentially find work, this is a really good time to join us.

You’re not just joining something that has already been built. You have an opportunity to help shape what we’re building next.
